'JUST FOR KICKS' CLASS!
OBRA is very proud of its youth members! While the OBRA is home to some of the provinces toughest youth barrel racers, they also boast a strong group of kids who demonstrate excellent leadership, horsemanship and sportsmanship. In view of this, the OBRA has appointed Youth Directors for 2011, Chelsie and Wynter Fotheringham. Together, Chelsie and Wynter have come up with some GREAT and FUN ideas to raise money for SPECIAL YOUTH AWARDS AND A YOUTH MOVIE NIGHT at BARREL BLAST OFF! For starters OBRA will introduce a exciting class that will be sure to bring everyone from their trailers to the show pen. The 'JUST FOR KICKS' class will be a fundraiser class with some crazy and entertaining events. All members young and old are invited to participate but the youth will be able to accumulate points towards a year end prize that will make participation very rewarding! More details on this class to come! Chelsie and Wynter will be sending out a flyer with all the details. If you are a youth member and would like to assist with this project please contact them.
OBRA Rookie Class
OBRA executive has set the revised 2011 rules for the popular OBRA rookie class. The mandate for this class is to bring new barrel racers into competing at the provincial level. The motive is to make it a class that is fun and not intimidating for those that are new to the sport. Here are the eligibility changes:
1. All rules from 2010 still apply.
2. If a competitor runs within 1 second of the fast time of a show at more than 3 shows before August 1st, they will be no longer able to compete in the rookie class.
3. Moderators for the rookie class have been designated. They are Lisa Scarlett and Amy Fotheringham and they will oversee eligibility for the OBRA rookie class. If you are concerned about whether you or another competitor is eligible, please contact either Lisa or Amy.
This change was made to improve the rookie class and attract more competitors to it.
